Well my point was that during the starvation breakdown, the brain/mind would be damaged. So how would mind over matter be possible? I didn't realize my post would kill the thread. I'll exit now, so everyone can continue.

What exactly is a relasionship with God?
by tootired2care ingrowing up and jw and being around them all my life i constantly heard the expression "a relasionship with god".
this always confused me, because how do you have a relasionship with someone that doesn't talk back to you after praying?
this was always rationalized as god talks back to you when you read the bible.

Let me try this again.
N.Drew:
There is a stage of starvation that includes hallucinations and malfunction of brain power. Perhaps during this stage, one who is starving would feel better than a person who has had a full meal. However, during extended episodes of starvation, the body turns on its vital organs and muscle for nourishment. When this happens the sufferer experiences horrific neurological and muscular pain.
During this process, when and how do you surmise that God has possibly provided comfort to the one suffering?

I absolutely LOVE camping. I love everything about it (except lack of bathroom facilities, which is a big deal, i know). I think the flow of being in nature 24/7 has got to be one of the healthiest experiences there is. Camping gets you out of yourself and lets you just be. And I love watching children explore and be free while out in nature too. The night sky cannot be beat.

They Are an Armageddon Family
by OnTheWayOut inthis is just my musing.
there's no serious controversy in my musings, just ramblings.
i suppose in 30 to 40 years (or less), sally and her brother may be selling the property on the beach at the end of the paved road, so that whatever remains of their family will have a few more million dollars and will be able to pioneer.

That story totally reflects the multigenerational indoctrination of witness families.
They simply don't know how to make the best of life here and now.

Odd question in July 15 2012 WT
by breakfast of champions inwhat if a powerful government were to hatch a plot to exterminate jehovah's witnesses as an organization?.
they ask this question at the bottom of page 23 of the july wt, and i thought the wording was kind of strange.
the target is not jws "the people" (as in nazi germany) but the org alone.

"First off, who the hell seriously uses the expression "to hatch a plot."
LOL BOC, I was thinking the same thing. Inspector Clouseau is their idol.

Anxiety attacks and Door to Door Activity...what have you observed?
by Momma-Tossed-Me induring door to door activity in the distant past i have had the experience of witnessing actual anxiety attacks of jw's who could not handle that required preaching on that day and on more than one occasion.. this is what i have seen on multiple occassions.. extreme headaches, upset stomach to the point of vomiting, visible trembling before even approaching the door, arguments with spouses and children, signs of elevated blood pressure, light sensitiity, a total character change, and basicly a complete shut down to the point of limited communication.
yes we all have butterflies in the stomach associated with certain activities but what i am talking about here bodily affliction to the point of physically affecting the individual in some cases for the rest of the day.. these symptoms are obviously present for some newbie to this type of activity but i have observed this from people who have been exposed to this type of work for years.
i think the body just cannot handle the stress anymore, and the marination in the hormones associated with it.

I really wish I had experienced obvious symptoms of anxiety. As a born in, I learned very young to just suck it up like a good little JW. It was only towards the end of my years as a witness that I realized all of the anxiety I had been swallowing. And how very damaging it all was. Thinking back now, most of the witnesses I worked in "the ministry" with were very angry and stressed out.
It's all too clear now how anxious these true christians really are.

Threats from the JW mafia (subtle threats)
by thecrushed inmy dad recently found out i wasn't coming to meetings and going out in field service.
he found an excuse to get me alone in his car and just lit into me about it.
he said that if i'm not going out in service that i'm not one of jehovah's witnesses and the brothers won't be able to trust me when the time comes to go undercover due to being attacked by the authorities.

I used to really suffer a lot of anxiety when the JWs talked of persecution.
It's so ridiculous and for the sole purpose of keeping you in line.
